Why did my OK.ru video download fail?

Check the direct video URL, signed-out access, embed availability, source changes, and temporary provider failures.

An OK.ru download can fail even when the link looks like ok.ru/video/…. The URL shape is only the first check. The video must also remain publicly accessible, expose a usable source, and stay available while the provider prepares the result. Start by opening the exact address without an OK.ru session.

Pullvio OK.ru downloader with a field for public video and videoembed links
Pullvio recognizes direct public OK.ru video or videoembed addresses. A recognized URL can still fail later if the source is restricted or unavailable upstream.

A valid-looking URL is not a successful source

Link validation answers “does this resemble a supported OK.ru address?” It does not answer “can the media file be retrieved right now?” The post can be removed, limited by audience, unavailable in a region, gated by age or sign-in, or delivered in a way the current provider cannot prepare.

This distinction explains why a task can enter the queue and still fail during media retrieval. It also explains why a provider may count an API request even when the final file is not produced: work began after the URL passed the initial check.

Test the direct page while signed out

Use the full https://ok.ru/video/… address or a direct videoembed URL copied from the public page. Open it in a private window. If the page requires a session, membership, confirmation, or a different regional experience, Pullvio does not have that permission.

Remove tracking parameters only if they are clearly separate from the video identifier. Do not guess a new ID or replace the domain with an unofficial mirror.

Separate temporary failures from permanent restrictions

A timeout, provider error, or source-fetch interruption can be temporary. Wait a few minutes, copy the current URL again, and retry once. “Private,” “unavailable,” “unsupported,” or repeated failures at the same retrieval stage point to a source restriction or provider limitation rather than a busy queue.

If a second attempt fails identically, stop. Repeated submissions can consume requests without improving the result. Keep the task time and URL for diagnosis.

What to send when reporting an OK.ru failure

Send the public source URL, approximate failure time, the message shown by Pullvio, and whether the video played in a signed-out window. Do not send an OK.ru password, session cookie, or private group access.

Try the verified URL in the OK.ru video downloader. If the source remains public but consistently fails, contact Pullvio so we can compare it with the current provider behavior instead of asking you to keep retrying.
