Why is my Instagram Reel link not working?

Fix the common difference between a direct public Reel URL and profile, private, expired Story, or copied-caption links.

An Instagram Reel link usually fails because it is not a direct public Reel URL. Open the Reel, use Share or the three-dot menu, and copy its link. Then test that same address in a signed-out browser. If Instagram asks for an account or says the content is unavailable, Pullvio cannot retrieve it as a public source.

The Instagram tool expects a direct public media URL. A username, profile page, caption, or screenshot does not identify the media source.

Make sure the URL points to the Reel

A useful Reel address identifies one media item. A profile URL ends at the account name; an Explore page or hashtag opens a collection; text pasted from a message may contain a shortened preview or punctuation. None gives Pullvio a stable media identifier.

Open the Reel player before copying. If the app gives you a short share address, open it once in a browser and confirm that it resolves to the intended Reel. Do not paste your Instagram username, password, cookies, or private account data into a downloader.

Public in the app is not always public on the web

You may be able to watch a Reel because your Instagram app is signed in, follows a private account, meets an age gate, or has a region-specific session. A public-link service does not inherit that access. The signed-out browser test exposes the difference quickly.

If you own a private Reel, use Instagram's account export or your original file. Changing privacy only to make an external download work can expose the post more broadly than intended.

Stories are time-sensitive

A public Story can expire or be removed while its copied link remains in a chat. After expiration, the URL may still look correct but no longer resolve to a downloadable media item. Highlights, archived Stories, and close-friends content follow different visibility rules and should not be treated as ordinary public Reels.

One clean retry beats repeated submissions

Copy the link again, strip surrounding text, verify it while signed out, and submit once to the Instagram video downloader. If it fails again, note whether the problem is “invalid link,” “unavailable source,” or a temporary processing error. Those messages imply different fixes.

Do not switch to a fake “no watermark” promise as a workaround. Availability, attribution, and video quality depend on the public source Instagram exposes. Save only media you created or have permission to keep.
